The CIAC high school state girls and boys basketball semifinals will take place Monday and Tuesday at various neutral sites around the state. There are five divisions for both boys and girls, and the state championships will be held Saturday and Sunday with times to be determined at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Several defending boys basketball champions have a chance to repeat. Division I champion Notre Dame-West Haven; Bunnell, which won Division III last year and moved up to Division II and Ellington, the Div. IV champion who is now in Div. III, are all in the semis.

On the girls’ side, Northwest Catholic is going for its fourth straight state title, this time in the highest Division I, and the Lions will face Sacred Heart, last year’s Class LL champion. Coventry won the Class S title last year and is playing in Div. III and will face NCCC foe Suffield in the semifinal game.
