Devin Carter showed some promise in SL and last season. I wouldn't be opposed to a 3 team deal that lands him here over Kuminga. I'm not sold on Kuminga.

I meant worst case for Golden State. Kuminga is their primary asset and was supposed to be their bridge from Steph to the new crop of talent. Definitely not worst case for us.

I'm not sold on Kuminga. I'd swap Grayson, Richards, and Oso for him and a 2nd rounder. I would rather pay Kuminga than Grayson, even if he's on the books for an extra year and a Nick Richards contract difference annually. Including Richards and Oso is a little too much for me. I think Oso or Richards is worth a 2nd rounder, at least, so both would be a tough sell.

So.. unless we're dumb enough to give him the money he wants in a sign and trade then he isn't getting that kind of money from anyone.

Taking the qualifying offer is risky for Kuminga, especially if the Warriors do not want to invest playing time in him. His value could go down. My guess is both parties want to move on.

The Suns have apparently wanted him since the trade deadline, when the rumored Durant trade to Golden State fell through.
I wish I had more confidence in the Suns front office.

I guess one could rationalize the risk by comparing it to paying Allen and O'Neale for another three seasons, but their contracts are more moveable. Then again, maybe not.

I'm seeing the opposite in the media, about Golden State holding firm. They reportedly upped their offer today.

Here's this from a few days ago that say he's got them in a tough spot since he holds the card with risk of signing the QO. That keeps them from getting a good return.

This says hes ignored their latest offer, which is 2 years and $40 million total. It's not just money but role.

The stuff about the increased role, not just being a starter, makes me want virtually no part of him. I wonder if that's leveraging his way out or into more money or he's serious though. If he's serious then I'd probably pass on swapping even Grayson for him.

They can be traded individually though and fill 2 different roles. They're still rotation players and that has value. Kuminga wasn't in Golden State's recent playoff rotation until injuries forced Kerr's hand.

The Suns have lacked bonafide NBA level rotation players in the not so distant past so I'd definitely prefer having control over 2 guys who fit that bill vs 1 we hope does.

The more I consider the Suns acquiring Kuminga is the less I'm willing to pay. I think getting involved as a facilitator and utilizing Grayson, Royce, or Richard's deal to make it happen in exchange for someone else is probably the best path for the Suns to go. Like somehow landing Carter would be nice.
