Now watch him be traded to the Lakers for a bag of beans and a 2040 second rounder, followed by the Nuggets astonishingly winning the next draft lottery.

And Adam Silver will be all "Nothing more to see here, folks... move along, move along..."

Can't have another OKC-Indiana Final, folks!!

How does this make Boston better?
unloading an often injured pordingus and an aging overpaid holiday while taintum is unable to play is doing work - i didn't say it makes them better - possibly a lottery team tho lol if they keep unloading

The Nets now own the following picks: 8, 19, 22, 26, 27 and 36.

Ok - then I agree - Boston may be writing off next year in hopes of doing a Spurs and getting a high draft pick while their star is out of commission

I think their primary goal was to get under the tax/2nd apron to reset the repeater for the year that they're not competitive.

The 2nd apron is demolishing contenders.
Yep and it's just getting started. I believe we'll see many changes in the way things are done over the next few years. For several years now Golden State has shown you could survive the penalties that come with the pursuit of a title if you can win it all but things are different now with this CBA. I think it will force the smart franchises to focus more on the financials than on titles. Teams will still build towards the finals but they'll take fewer risks and the smart teams will realize their title window will be much shorter in the new NBA.

gotta ask man.. where in dafuq did you come up with this randomness man? just wow man
OKC has to use that stockpile of picks on something, and using it on the best player in the world seems kind of logical to me.

This is why I think the players will balk when the next CBA comes around.

The NBA is not hurting for money and they are looking to add teams in the U.S. and expand into Europe.

You could be right but since it's not going to hurt them financially I'm not so sure they'll take a hardline stance against it.

The NBA stars run the league and they want to control their destiny.

They do not want to get shipped off when a team does not want to pay the second tax apron penalties.

It's a trickle-down effect. They will want their slice of the pie.

I also think they're desperate to get under the 2nd apron. Paying that level of tax for a non-playoff team is brutal... just ask the Suns.

That Tatum injury tore up a team that probably would have contended another 2 or 3 years.

IMO, it hasn't been the money for the Suns, but rather the limitations imposed by the CBA that has dragged them down, along with poor decision-making by the front office and ownership.

I think if Ishbia were allowed to spend to fix the team, he would.

The Suns luck:

Get a billionaire willing to spend, league changes rules to make it harder
Now watch when the Lakers get into the same hell, they will change the rules back.

If only Book would do the same. Forfeit a big payout and instead stretch something more reasonable over a longer period. He has to prove his worth before he is offered an extension, right? Right, Ishba? Gregory?

Irving isn't doing this out of the goodness of his heart, it's because he is covered in warts and I would say that is an abjectly stupid contract by the Mavs. Irving seems to perpetually either be injured or mired in controversy, frankly, if not for the Mavs desperation, I doubt he would even sniff such a deal on the open market.

Even ignoring the drama that surrounds Irving, they are now paying him 40 million next year... to rehab his knee. This contract is a huge gamble by the Mavs while Irving gets paid like a star even though his career might be over.

Book should do it because he does not deserve the super max and neither should he be offered it. Should we gamble on him playing for a new contract or if he does not accept this, do a sign and trade? Good luck "Gregory"! They could hide behind "pay cut for the good of the team".
