SAN MARCOS — Texas State softball went 1-1 in its first two games of the San Marcos Showdown. Right-handed pitcher Emma Strood opened Wednesday against Saint Francis, throwing a no-hitter and striking out 12 in a 7-0 win. The following day, Tarleton State stormed back from a 5-0 deficit in the sixth inning, defeating Texas State 6-5. Bobcats left-handed pitcher Madison Azua pitched four innings, allowing one run. Relievers Analisa Soliz and Chesney Davis gave up seven hits and five runs in two innings pitched.

The Bobcats begin Friday with a rematch against the Texans and will face the Aggies right afterward. This is Texas State's last tournament before beginning Sun Belt conference play next Friday against ULM.
