It’s been quite the journey for Texas senior guard Rori Harmon. She burst onto the scene as a freshman, receiving numerous accolades including an All-American honorable mention. She followed that up with a strong sophomore year and was in the midst of an even better junior year when tragedy struck.
Harmon tore her ACL just 12 games into her junior season. She was set to turn in a career-year, and was averaging 14.1 points at the time of the injury. She returned the following year and helped Texas surge to the Final Four.

In her final season with the team, Harmon played a major role in Texas grabbing a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament and advancing to the Sweet 16.
But the team’s last victory — a 100-58 win over Oregon on Sunday — meant a little more to Harmon. The game marked the final time Harmon would play at the Moody Center, where Texas plays all its home games.
Prior to the contest, Harmon got emotional after sharing a hug with Dr. Doug Elenz, the doctor who performed her ACL surgery in 2023.
Harmon then went out and dropped 9 points, 6 assists and 5five steals in her final home game at Texas.
After the contest, Harmon explained why she got emotional when speaking to Dr. Elenz. Harmon said she was surprised by the surgeon, who Harmon called “my hero.”
As Dr. Elenz said prior to Sunday’s game, Harmon’s knee still has “some more mileage” left in it. Texas will have to hope that’s the case, as the team sits just a few wins away from an NCAA championship.
The team will look to continue that run Saturday, when it takes on the winner of Kentucky and West Virginia.
