ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — It appears shortstop Corey Seager is on track to join the Rangers in Houston when they take on the Astros this weekend.
Playing for the second straight at Double-A Frisco, Seager played shortstop and took three at-bats. He was hitless for the night, a night after homering and walking. On the field, Seager may have been the second attraction. Rangers top prospect Sebastian Walcott homered for the second straight night and the third time since being activated earlier in the month. Walcott has a 1.129 OPS at Frisco.

Seager is expected to take a day of rest on Thursday, then join the Rangers when they arrive in Houston.
Of Seager’s first game, manager Skip Schumaker offered the report: “He had a really good play in the hole. He felt nothing running. He felt really good at the plate. He had some misses. He hit a ball. He kind of did everything we wanted to see happen. Checked off a lot of things. After he plays [Wednesday], he’ll most likely have a day off Thursday and then we’ll see where he’s at.”
