While the start of the 2026-2027 college basketball season is still months away, the Texas Longhorns are already adjusting their schedule. Texas and Miami are reportedly finalizing an agreement to play a neutral-site game, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports. The game would be played at Houston's Toyota Center.
If the agreement is finalized, it will mark the first matchup between the two storied programs in three years. The last meeting came in during Texas's Elite Eight run in 2023. The Hurricanes emerged with a win, ending the Longhorns' season and securing Miami's trip to the Final Four.
As the Longhorns look for revenge, they will have a roster full of talent. They have been busy in the transfer portal the last few weeks, adding Amari Evans, David Punch, Mikey Lewis, Isaiah Johnson, and Elyjah Freeman. They will be joined by an elite freshman class that includes Austin Goosby, Joe Sterling, and Bo Ogden.
Although a lot has changed over the last few years, Texas is coming off one of its best seasons in recent memory. Just a few months ago, they fell just a few wins short of a national title when their March Madness run came to an end in the Sweet 16. They are hoping to build on that success in year two under Miller.
