Texas A&M fans don’t usually circle kicker transfer news on the offseason calendar, but after a year in which the Aggies converted just 61 percent of their field‑goal attempts, the position has become one of the program’s most urgent needs. The staff clearly agrees, wasting no time in pursuing one of the top specialists in the portal.
On Friday, Jaxson Callaway of On3Sports reported that Illinois junior kicker David Olano has included Texas A&M among the schools he intends to visit.
If early buzz is to be believed, the two‑time All‑Big Ten Honorable Mention selection has the Aggies near the top of his list, and momentum appears to be trending in A&M’s favor. Still, in the NIL era, nothing is final until signatures are on paper. Olano is coming off an impressive season, finishing 20-of-23 with a long of 47 yards, and he proved his poise under pressure by drilling a 29-yard walk-off field goal to win the 2025 Music City Bowl.
Texas A&M made it clear they were determined to find a reliable, game‑ready kicker this offseason. If they can close on Olano, they may have found exactly that.
