Texas A&M is still searching for consistency in SEC play, but after a 14–6 win over Missouri on Saturday, the Aggies now sit at 4–4 in conference action with a chance on Sunday to climb above .500. A major reason for that opportunity is the continued rise of true freshman third baseman Nico Partida.

For Partida, this season has been a full “learn on the job” experience. Thrust into an everyday role in the infield from Opening Day, he’s taken his lumps, four errors and the occasional cold stretch at the plate, but the overall body of work is undeniable. At the midway point of the season, Partida is slashing .337/.431/.592 with 33 hits, four doubles, 23 RBI, and seven home runs, production that firmly places him in the conversation for Freshman All‑SEC honors.

After enduring a 0-for-11 stretch in mid‑March, Partida has settled back in and is currently riding a five‑game hitting streak, tallying eight hits and three home runs during that span. In Game 2 against Missouri, he delivered the first multi‑home‑run performance of his young career, a clear sign that his confidence and timing are trending upward.

The future looks extremely bright for the freshman. Head coach Michael Earley has repeatedly praised Partida’s development and admitted there was a collective sigh of relief inside the program when the highly regarded prospect made it to campus after the MLB Draft.

And the Aggies still haven’t tapped into everything he can do. Partida was also a highly rated pitching prospect, and with the bullpen battling inconsistency, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him log a few innings before the season is over.

National evaluators are taking notice as well. Baseball America already views Partida as one of the premier names to watch for the 2028 MLB Draft, a projection that reflects both his present production and his long‑term ceiling.
