No. 7 Texas A&M (35-10, 15-8 SEC) enter the week with a clear focus on finsihing out the regular season on a high note, set to face Ole Miss on the road before hosting Mississippi State at home, the Aggies are still predicted to receive a double-bye in the SEC Tournament, needing to finish top 4 in the conference to avoid the first two games of the tournament.
However, as we inch closer to the postseason, both D1Baseball and Baseball America have released updated NCAA Tournament first-round projections, and for Aggie fans who feel that Texas A&M has accomplished enough to earn a top 8 seed, only D1Baseball believes that's possible at this point.
Baseball America currently has the Aggies as the 9-seed, hosting Arizona State, who Texas A&M defeated in non-conference play, paired with Missouri State and Indiana State. If Texas A&M were to win the College Station Regional, the Aggies are not guaranteed to host the Super Regional Round, unless a lower seed out of the competing regional were to win.
In D1Baseball's projection, Texas A&M is the 8th-seed, hosting Oklahoma State, UTSA, and Oral Roberts. If you sense the trend, Texas A&M would host the winner of the 9-seed Coastal Carolina Regional if the Aggies advance. Right now, if Texas A&M wins at least one more regular-season series, coach Mike Earley's squad should be considered a top 8-seed.
Texas A&M will face Ole Miss on the road, starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m., and will be available to stream on SEC Network+.
