Michael Earley just reeled in his third addition to the Texas A&M bullpen during the portal window, as Texas State right-hander Wade Cooper announced he will join the Aggies for his sophomore season in 2027.
Cooper's transfer on Thursday marks another integral piece to rebuilding a thin pitching rotation. Texas A&M's pitching ranked 13th with a 5.24 team ERA in 2026, which played a major role in the team's early postseason exit. Now, they've added a solidified stud reliever, who has the potential to be one of the best arms in the conference next year.
In the relief role for the Bobcats, Cooper notched 73 strikeouts in 66.2 innings of work. Considered as one of the nation's top mid-major relievers, he will have an opportunity to rewrite the narrative under new pitching coach Barry Enright.
Cooper boasted a 4.72 ERA paired with a 1.35 WHIP and just 25 walks. In his role with Texas State, he earned five saves and allowed an opponent batting average of just .256 in his 23 appearances. He faced the powerful Texas A&M lineup in a 9-8 win over the Aggies in San Marcos, in which he recorded a four-out save with two strikeouts and just one hit allowed.
The Bobcats later moved Cooper into a starting role, as he helped contribute to their postseason appearance in the Bryan-College Station Regional to end his first collegiate campaign on the rubber.
His addition to the roster marks the sixth player picked up by Earley and company via the transfer portal. Cooper is the third pitcher to be added this offseason, as Enright looks to renovate the bullpen into a competitive SEC unit entering 2027.

New Texas A&M portal commitment Wade Cooper has big time stuff, including a wipeout breaking ball that plays well off his heater.
