Texas A&M's 2027 recruiting class will be well represented this spring, while May and June are already packed with official visits from a long list of blue-chip prospects, including five-star cornerback John Meredith. So far, coach Mike Elko and his revamped coaching staff have landed ten commitments and are now finalists for another five-star prospect at an important position.
On Monday, five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson, a top 15-ranked prospect in the 2027 cycle, released his final list of programs vying for his commitment, as LSU, Miami, Nebraska, USC, Missouri, and Texas A&M made the cut. A two-sport athlete, Texas A&M basketball head coach Bucky McMillan has also reportedly offered Hudson, who could play both sports at the next level.
However, his elite skill set as a pass-catching tight end has led to nearly every program sending him an offer, while his ability to stretch the field and run crisp intermediate routes makes him a mismatch for nearly every defender. Even more impressive, Hudson is already an established blocker, making him a complete tight end prospect with immediate starting potential.
Texas A&M has done an impressive job developing tight ends who aren't nearly as athletic as Hudson over the past decade-plus, and new TE coach Derek Shay, along with first-year offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins, will compete with all five other coaching staffs over the next few months.
According to 247Sports, Hudson is currently positioned as the 11th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 1-ranked tight end prospect, and the 2nd-ranked prospect in Louisiana.
