The Texas A&M softball team has hovered around the No. 15 ranking for most of the season, and at 2–1 in SEC play, the Aggies now face a prime opportunity to strengthen their postseason resume. Beginning Thursday, A&M hosts Georgia in a series that could provide a significant boost in both the SEC standings and national perception.
The Aggies enter the weekend after a hard‑fought series against No. 1 Texas, where they dropped the first two games by a single run before salvaging the finale with a gritty 9–7 victory. Those one‑run losses have become a theme and a frustration for a team that has consistently gone toe‑to‑toe with elite opponents but hasn’t always found the finishing touch.
Head coach Trisha Ford said the staff is focused on breaking through that barrier.
The players feel the same urgency and the same belief.
Offensively, A&M continues trending upward, with growing confidence throughout the lineup.
In a conference as deep as the SEC, every weekend carries weight, but this one feels particularly meaningful. A series win over Georgia would keep A&M firmly in the top‑15 conversation and strengthen their case for a strong postseason seed as the calendar turns toward April.
Below is the full preview with Coach Trisha Ford, KK Dement, and Kennedy Powell.
No. 15 Texas A&M will host No. 7 Georgia in a three-game series starting on Thursday, April 2, at 6:00 p.m. CST. The game can be viewed on SEC Network+ and the ESPN App.

"We're going to spend a lot of time today kind of going over those pieces of just what I think it's going to take for us to get over that hump because we're in a lot of those games against ranked top 10 opponents. They're not happening against, you know, people that are aren't ranked. They're happening in teams that are ranked and really, really good teams can execute in those high lever situations. And we just haven't done it as consistent as needed." - Coach Ford
The players feel the same urgency and the same belief.
"It lights a fire under us. I think um we're learning each and every game and like you said, the one-run games, yeah, they sting a little bit. But at this time of year we just you know just continue to learn because we want to be at our best come postseason. So just making sure we're learning from those things during those games and getting better each and every game." - Kennedy Powell
Offensively, A&M continues trending upward, with growing confidence throughout the lineup.
"Think it kind of like gives you confidence in the person behind you and understanding like if I don't get it done, the person behind me is going to get it done and if she doesn't, there's multiple people that are capable of getting the job done." - KK Dement
