Texas A&M dropped a hard‑fought battle to No. 1 Texas Tech on Saturday night, falling 3–2 in front of a packed, record-setting crowd at Davis Diamond. The result wasn’t what the Aggies hoped for, but the performance offered plenty of reasons for optimism as the early-season picture continues to take shape.

A loss is never ideal, and moral victories only go so far, but head coach Trisha Ford walked away encouraged by what she saw. The Aggies hit the ball hard, played steady defense, and—most notably—held their own in the circle against one of the most explosive offenses in the country.

" I was really proud of our fight. I think obviously we had a little nerves in that first inning. I thought Lessentine did a great job of settling down and just executing her pitches and I thought all around our arms did a really good job. I mean we hit some balls hard tonight and they just didn't fall. You know, for me it was the little things"

Now 4–1, the Aggies are playing about as well as you could expect from a roster full of new faces, new defensive alignments, and a pitching staff replacing over 41% of last season’s innings handled by All-American Emiley Kennedy. With SEC play still weeks away, the question becomes how much this group can grow as roles solidify and the lineup finds its rhythm.

Below is the full postgame availability from head coach Trisha Ford and pitcher Sydney Lessentine.

Texas A&M will close out the Aggie Classic on Sunday morning, hosting Providence at 9:30 a.m. inside Davis Diamond.
