After ending the regular season and SEC Tournament on a three‑game skid, Texas A&M couldn’t have scripted a better reset to open the NCAA Regional at Davis Diamond.

The Aggies immediately erased any lingering doubt, overwhelming UConn in Friday’s opener with a program‑record 13‑run second inning on their way to a dominant 17–3 run‑rule victory, securing the first spot in Saturday’s winner’s bracket.

In the nightcap, Trisha Ford’s former program, Arizona State, matched the Aggies’ energy. The Sun Devils rolled to an 8–0 run‑rule win, powered by a clinical pitching performance that allowed them to save their ace for Saturday’s showdown.

With both teams cruising through their openers, Texas A&M and Arizona State will meet Saturday at 2 p.m. with a place in the regional final on the line and no shortage of storylines between Ford and her former team.
