Texas A&M (19-8, 9-5 SEC) is back on track after defeating Ole Miss at home and Oklahoma on the road, ending a four-game losing streak that included frustrating road losses to Alabama and Vanderbilt, while the only true blowout loss to the Florida Gators was due to poor shooting and a massive size disadvantage.
Overall, the Aggies entered the season highly underrated, predicted to win two or three conference games, while first-year head coach Bucky McMillan was the final Power Five coach hired back in late April. So far, Texas A&M has continued to defy preseason expectations, led by a transfer-led roster, while senior forward Rashaun Agee leads the Aggies with 14 PPG and 8.9 rebounds per contest.
While it took a second-half comeback to defeat Ole Miss, the Aggies were locked in vs. Oklahoma, leading most of the game, and even when the Sooners made it a one-possession game with just seconds left, senior guard Rylan Griffen was clutch after missing several shots, hitting a close range jumper to ultimately seal the game, combined with Agee's two made free throws.
The Aggies will stay on the road this week before heading back to College Station to host Texas on Saturday, taking on No. 20 Arkansas and a future top 5 NBA Draft pick in freshman phenom Darius Acuff, who is averaging 22 points per game and shooting 50% from the field.
However, Arkansas will be down at least one player, as sophomore guard Karter Knox (8.1 PPG) is listed as "out" in the latest injury report, while Texas A&M forward Jamie Vinson is surprisingly listed as "questionable" with a 50% chance to play on Wednesday night.
Texas A&M will face No. 20 Arkansas on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. CT. The game will air on ESPN2.
