There will be plenty of new faces at Davis Diamond when Texas A&M opens the 2026 season in February, but one familiar presence will anchor the lineup: junior slugger Mya Perez, one of the most feared hitters in college softball. On Thursday, Softball America named her to their Top 50 Watch List for the 2026 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, adding another preseason accolade to her growing resume.
Texas A&M’s standout junior earned the honor after a dominant 2025 campaign that helped propel the Aggies to a No. 1 national ranking and rewrite the record book with a program‑best 73 RBI. Her breakout season secured Second‑Team All‑American recognition and cemented her place among the nation’s most feared hitters.
Perez was nearly untouchable at the plate, closing the year with a scorching .424/.561/.804 slash line, 67 hits, and 16 home runs. Her production fueled a decorated postseason résumé that featured two SEC Player of the Week awards, First‑Team All‑SEC, NFCA Central All‑Region Second Team, and consensus Second‑Team All‑American honors.
Now heading into the 2026 season, Perez steps into an expanded leadership role on a roster infused with new talent. As the Aggies push for a return to the NCAA Tournament, she’ll be relied upon not only for her elite offensive presence but also for the guidance and stability she brings on and off the field.
The Aggies will open up the season against ACU on February 5 during the first day of the Aggie Classic at Davis Diamond in Bryan-College Station.
