The Penn State Nittany Lions will have a completely revamped TE room as both Luke Reynolds and Andrew Olesh have transferred away from the program.
Luke Reynolds will reunite with both James Franklin and former Penn State tight ends coach Ty Howle at Virginia Tech, while Andrew Olesh will join Big Ten foe Oregon. This means that Andrew Rappleyea is the lone returner in the TE room, while both Benjamin Brahmer and Gabe Burkle are the new additions.
Reynolds was thought to perhpas be the successor to Penn State legend Tyler Warren. The former 5-star recruit was seen as someone with unique athleticism for his height at the position. Still, he found himself in somewhat of a timeshare with Khalil Dinkins, only recording 26 receptions for 257 yards as a result. While many thought that him burning his redshirt two years ago would launch his snap count into the stratosphere, it did the opposite due to Dinkins' presence.
Now Reynolds will hope that the potential James Franklin saw in him at Penn State gets unlocked at Virginia Tech.
As for Olesh, he didn't see much of the field during his short time as a Nittany Lion. The former four star in fact did not see the field at all as a true freshman for the Nittany Lions. He was the No. 57 overall prospect and No. 3 tight end in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He was also the No. 1 player in the state of Pennsylvania as well. He is only Oregon's fourth transfer, as they are expected to roster over 80 scholarship players this year. Olesh could face his former team as a redshirt sophomore this year as well.
