With some new faces in Pittsburgh this year, the Pittsburgh Steelers have to feel like there are some players who could be traded at any given moment.

After the Cleveland Browns decided to move on from Myles Garrett, I wouldn't say that anything is off the table around the NFL for some teams that aren't guaranteed to be contenders.

The Steelers are obviously a much better team than the Browns and have a much better chance of winning. However, I am also a bit skeptical about calling the Steelers Super Bowl contenders.

After the Garrett trade, many have speculated whether Pittsburgh could finally cut ties with its top player in T.J. Watt. According to the latest report, while it's unlikely Watt gets traded at this exact moment, there is some pressure on him and others on the roster to perform at the level everyone knows they can.

“So what does this mean for Watt’s future? Does Herbig leapfrogging Highsmith contractually create a problem? Could Sawyer’s continued emergence make someone expendable? For 2026, it’s a decent problem to have.

"All played a significant number of the defensive snaps last year: Watt was at 69.8% while missing three games; Highsmith was at 54.5% and missed four games; Herbig was at 54.4% and missed two games; and Sawyer was at 25.3% and played in every game). It should keep the heat on everyone to perform, and give new DC Patrick Graham a lot to be creative with. And after that, well, the bottleneck of talent certainly makes things interesting,” Albert Breer wrote.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Watt get traded, though I think it's important to recognize that the Steelers could have gotten a lot more for him a few years ago.

Unfortunately, that isn't the case anymore, but they can't necessarily worry about it too much. If they believe Watt needs to be traded for whatever reason, that's what should happen.

If the Steelers can get back a decent return and go from there, why not? Only if they struggle though, as he's a big piece to what this team wants to do in the future.
