More mad about signing Arroyo in the first place.
Yes, but good teams figure out how to move on from their mistakes. The Dbacks have made a lot of moves over the past year or so to free up cash. Now we know why.

I defenitely doubted their intentions.

Where are the dozens of people that posted about how outraged they were at the Touki trade?

I was furious. In the last 5 years the Diamondbacks had established themselves as a mid market team that wasn't going to drop these kind of contracts. Thus, giving away high end and cost controlled players seemed dumb.

Obviously we have seen a monumental shift in how the team will be doing business so my anger was misguided.

Like I said then, TLR didn't come here to screw around and remain irrelevant. I don't know why anyone else thought otherwise as the man's entire career was about building sustained winning. Yee of little faith I guess...

Now we need to find a way to dump fat boy Tomas.

Won't happen... Too soon... Let's hope that with more time in America and with proper coaching, both with regard to techniques and physical training, he comes back this spring as a better, improved and healthier player...

Physical training isn't looking good according to his physique at the uni unveiling. (Allegedly).

I was one. Still sends the wrong message trading away prospects in order to shed payroll. Question to you Sundevil04, would you trade either Aaron Blair or Braden Shipley to get rid of Aaron Hill's contract?

Anyone else wish Hall could take over the Suns from Sarver?

2 true contenders in one major market is awesome. Pitchers report a few days after the Cards win the Super Bowl.

Had Tooki done/developed what Blair & Shiley have done/developed? I think Tookie was/is incredibly raw and unproven, whereas Blair and Shiply are much more proven and seasoned...

He was a HS kid with 1 year in the minors, the other 2 are college pitchers who had a couple of years in the minors so to expect TT to be on their level in a year is not practical. I will concede that Touki was not as developed as the other 2 but he is only 19 years old so he could end up a better P than the other two, we gave up too early.

But the question remains, would you trade a good prospect just to jettison a contract? I wouldn't.

Touki trade made up less than 5% of Greinke contacts. Are you telling me that was the difference maker?

The original concept of this thread is shallow in thought. That makes the attempted burn even sillier.

Exactly.

And then you get people like Chris who speak up and say yeah I was mad, and here's why. Ofcourse he's got no response to him because that doesn't play into his sick burn.

Sad when people use good news for the team as ammo against fellow posters.

Yes, the Touki trade was and still is rather embarrassing. We don't have a cash problem right now, trading highly trading a highly touted prospect just to dump a guy's contract, while in the final year of said contract (with a buyout), made little sense.

As was pointed out by posters and pundits, if a guy with Touki's "stuff" was an international prospect who'd just gotten himself on the free agent market he would have been worth a helluva lot more than the money we saved by shedding Arroyo's contract.

Once Hill is gone though we'll finally be relieved of Kevin Towers rash of wretched signings and horse poop trades.
