It's often said that a rising tide lifts all boats, but don't tell that to Tarris Reed Jr. He's played with two of the most successful college basketball programs of the decade in UConn and Michigan, but has somehow not come away with the ultimate team prize.
It bears mentioning that UConn and Michigan have won three out of the last four NCAA men's basketball championships, and Reed Jr. has played for one or the other in each of the last four seasons.
Quite simply, Reed Jr. has been at the wrong place at the wrong time when it comes to winning it all.
He was at Michigan for his freshman and sophomore seasons in 2022 and 2023, as UConn made history by winning back-to-back titles.
Reed Jr. transferred to UConn ahead of the 2024-25 season, likely thinking he could be part of a three-peat. Instead, UConn was ousted from March Madness by the eventual champion Florida Gators.
Reed Jr. came close to beating his old school in the 2025-26 campaign to capture the title, but the Wolverines got the better of the Huskies.
The basketball gods might owe Reed Jr. a bit of championship glory as his hoops journey continues.

CRAZY: Taris Reed Jr. played 2 years for Michigan and 2 years for UConn.
Those 2 schools won 3 Championships in those 4 years.
He didn’t win any of them. pic.twitter.com/jKtTzYS38t
