On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers put the pads on for the first time this training camp and we got our first look at what new head coach Mike McCarthy wants from what should me be the most live and physical practices of camp. There were plenty of fireworks on Monday but not for the reasons you think. Here are our three big takeaways.

Uneventful is the word of the day

Overall, the practice itself was labeled uneventful. Not just by Steelers beat writer Gerry Dulac but also by Steelers running back Jaylen Warren as well. Reports that the Steelers' most physical practice was dull and uneventful aren't going to sit well with the fanbase.

Aaron Rodgers goes off

The biggest news of the day was the tirade quarterback Aaron Rodgers went on during his interview with The Pat McAfee Show. The show was live at practice and Rodgers was one of several players who spoke to McAfee after practice. Rodgers used the opportunity to go off about multiple non-football issues, really stirring up fans and non-fans alike.

The backup quarterback battle heats up

While rookie Drew Allar is drawing attention for making splash throws at practice, Will Howard had been more consistent and a steady, positive performer. This is making for a great position battle and making head coach Mike McCarthy's job much harder.
