While the offseason is well underway, the Tampa Bay Lightning's American Hockey League affiliate, the Syracuse Crunch, are still doing their part to give back to their community.

This weekend, members of the Crunch organization participated in NAMIWalks Syracuse. The event, which is hosted by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), is one of hundreds around the country. According to their mission statement, "NAMI provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so that all individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives."

At NAMIWalks Syracuse, there were 145 participants spread across 14 teams, all looking to help raise money to fight the stigma against mental illness and support mental health services in their local area. As a whole, they raised $36,479 for the cause.

For those in the Tampa area looking to participate, there will be a NAMIWalks event in Tampa in October. NAMIWalks Hillsborough is set to take place on Saturday, October 24 and already has 46 participants registered.
