The first-ever game between New Hampshire’s summer collegiate baseball league teams will happen on Monday night at Holman Stadium in Nashua.
The defending New England Collegiate Baseball League champion Keene Swamp Bats will play an exhibition against the Nashua Silver Knights, of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:03 p.m.
In what the teams are calling the “Granite State Showdown” they will play two exhibition games this summer. The Swamp Bats and Silver Knights will play again at Alumni Field in Keene on Tuesday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m.
The Silver Knights, who are in the middle of their 16th season, entered their Sunday home game against the New Britain Bees with a 17-18 record.
Nashua has won a league-leading six FCBL titles, most recently in 2022.
The Swamp Bats entered their Sunday doubleheader against Ocean State with a 15-14-1 record and having lost six in a row. Keene has won six NECBL titles over its 29-year history.
The Swamp Bats have three New Hampshire residents on their roster: Hooksett’s Jackson Marshall, who plays at the University of Connecticut, Bedford’s Aiden O’Connell (Duke) and Hill’s Anakin Underhill (Sacred Heart).
Marshall, a Pinkerton Academy alum, was the Big East Player of the Year after batting .382 with 14 home runs, 60 RBIs and 47 runs scored last spring.
The Silver Knights have seven Granite Staters: Londonderry’s Nate Kearney (Stonehill) and Michael Crowley (Assumption), Hooksett’s Brendan Horne (VCU), Windham’s Josh Martino (SNHU), Hopkinton’s Malcolm Klingler (Northeastern), Nashua’s Brandon Metivier (Wheeling) and New Boston’s Will Perkowski (SNHU).
