In what is some of the more unexpected former Cincinnati Bengals players news to hit training camp in years, a surprising name has started to make the rounds:
Cordell Volson.
Volson, a fourth-round pick by the Bengals in 2022, might just be in line to start for the Tennessee Titans next season.
At Titans training camp, Volson has received work with the first team under the direction of head coach Robert Saleh.
That will surprise some Bengals fans. Volson was an underdog story who worked his way up to a starting job, going for 989-plus snaps three seasons in a row from 2022-2024 before going to injured reserve last year.
But that 2024 season was going to be Volson’s last as a starter either way after ranking 78th out of 135 guards at PFF with a 59.3 grade. The Bengals had moved on with rookie Dylan Fairchild and free agent Dalton Risner at the guard spots.
Both parties are arguably in better spots now, at least, with Volson getting a chance at the age of 28 on a rebuilding team to prove he still has plenty to offer as a starter.
