Llandovery kept the heat on Super Rygbi Cymru (SRC) leaders Ebbw Vale by edging out champions Newport 22-19 at Church Bank.
The second-placed Drovers ended the Black and Ambers' winning streak at four games to close to within five points of the Steelmen, who have a game in hand.
Newport led 19-3 at the break thanks to a double by hooker Wade Langley and wing Noah Morgan's finish on the stroke of half-time.
However, Drovers scored 19 unanswered points in the second half to take the spoils after tries by blind-side flanker Evan Sheldon, open-side flanker Kian Abraham and replacement prop Josh Morse.
Llandovery were relieved to claim the four points but the Steelmen bagged six when they continued their impressive start to the season by winning 45-24 at Aberavon on Thursday night.
Centre Ethan Phillips, wings Dafydd Thomas (2) and Ewan Bowden, scrum-half Gruff Tough and flanker Jack Pope went over while the pack also earned a penalty try.
The Wizards gave their visitors a scare by closing to 26-24 in the final quarter but had to be content with a four-try consolation bonus thanks to efforts by fly-half Keillen Cullen, centre Bradley Roderick, number eight Ashton Evans and replacement back Connor Moyse.
Rygbi Gogledd Cymru (RGC) recorded an impressive 28-22 win at Cardiff.
The north Walians have enjoyed three successes this season and they have all come on the road.
RGC have won in Pontypool, Bridgend and now Cardiff thanks to tries by full-back Dion Jones, back-row forward Sam Williams, fly-half Billy McBryde and scrum-half Connor Dever.
Carmarthen Quins' game against Bridgend was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, as was Swansea's Friday night fixture against Pontypool at Dunvant.
