We didn't cave to KD, Golden State said no to that trade when KD said he didn't want to go there. That simple.

Don't you get sick of Suns fans consistently putting the fault of EVERYTHING on the Suns?
I'm kind of sick of the Suns sucking, which they've done for 13 of the last 15 seasons. It's not like Suns fans are bitching just to bitch. Outside of one run to the Finals and 64 wins the next season, the overwhelming majority of the last 15 years have been overwhelmingly bad to awful.

Draft Ace Bailey, Derrick Queen or perhaps Nolan Traore. We need bigs and a PG to get the ball out of the hands of Booker and Green and Beal. Hopefully they can flip Brooks and Green + Allen for picks or a position of need.

Can Dunn put on weight to play some PF without losing his speed and quickness?
you leave dunn in his natural dennis rodman form - oso on the other hand - if he can't develop a jumpshot he could use another 40 or 60 pounds

Don't you get sick of Suns fans consistently putting the fault of EVERYTHING on the Suns? Why are other front office infallible. Something bad happens, it's ALWAYS the front office's fault. And many times, we would take the fault away from James Jones and put it solely on Ishbia. That makes no sense in a multi-million dollar enterprise.
I took a gander at the first few pages of the KD to Suns thread and it painfully reminded me of how things went almost as bad as they possibly could.

Cp3
Book
KD
insert player
Ayton (a paid one at that)
+ any FA buyouts itching to go for the ride

At one point we were able to speculate on a TJ Warren playoff sighting as some sort of incentive because we had everything in place.

I still think most GMs would have opted for that as a starter pack for a 4 year run.
Nobody would've guessed we'd be on coach #4 and not even a play-in candidate less than 3yrs later.

Our current position is not the greatest by any means but Ishbia will have the chance to right the ship if he exercises some patience.

Beal is the poison contract right now but I think everything being done should be in regards to 3yrs down the road anyways.

We are not competing for anything until then.

LOL. Suns fans bitch just to bitch all the time! You know that. It's how we've always been. Yes, I don't want us to suck either, but that is irrelevant to my point.

Hmmmmmm... I dunno. I have a hard time imagining a more pathetic package.

If we don't score a hit with this draft pick, IMO, we traded Durant for an even worse cap position and absolutely nothing else.

For all this blabber about us needing to get under the second apron, we just added contract guarantees nearly 3 times what Durant is owed, for two players who, I expect, we cannot get off of without incentivizing someone.

You could remove Durant from the equation entirely and I still think this trade only compounds our disaster.
I know you hated that Beal deal as well, but with KD gone, do you see a world where Beal actually starts showing his value more? As you said, KD has a style, and his stature dictated that we follow that style or else. That's out the door now, so it will be interesting to see what this team looks like.

That is actually an encouraging perspective. Beal's NTC is like an interlock on the vehicle that forces us to slow things down.

I was originally thinking training wheels but feel interlock is more appropriate since it's a consequence of our own reckless actions.

how so? the Suns fans bitch because the team almost universally gives us reason to bitch. we've been awful for the majority of the last 15 years. that's why there's so much bitching and why it's relevant to the point.

Huh? Golden State pulled out of the trade because KD said he didn't want to go there. But yet, you are blaming the Suns for it. That's what the post was about. We take things that aren't our fault and spin it to be our fault.

That's not to say there's a lot that isn't our fault, but this isn't one of them. The fact that the Suns helped come up with the framework of that deal that Golden State was willing to accept is a positive. We don't have control if GS pulls out because of KD's prima donna act.

I don't think anyone ignores GS role in things but why should we as Suns fans care much as we're focused on the Suns? It's false hope that was created by the Suns for allowing the deal to be public knowledge. I'd expect them to be active and do things we don't know about to improve as that is their job. Not doing anything to improve is worse than trying and failing but that's really giving them credit for the bare minimum.

So what? The difference in value between the #26 pick and the #30 pick is minimal. I understand wanting to be precise, but as a practical matter "the end of the first round" is sufficiently accurate.
What do you mean so what? If the Suns want to trade up in a round using existing assets they can't. Why would the Suns want to hog tie themselves from having that option?

Are you assuming we are done moving money off the Books? I mean Ishbia said himself they eventually have to get under the 2nd Apron because he doesn't want our future drafts impacted. I wouldn't recall when that penalty kicks in. That is not "blabber". That is from the owner. Now if you feel we are done? I agree with you. Adding contracts that continue to put us over the 2nd Apron makes no sense if and when that penalty kicks in.

I am assuming we are not done but I would be totally wrong about that. They have to have a plan to get under the 2nd Apron before that penalty kicks in. If not? This team is a much bigger mess than I thought.

We didn't have to ask him - we didn't need his permission to trade him anywhere. They should have taken whatever value they could have gotten at the trade deadline vs. this debacle.

This is one of the most hilarious assertions here...well, ever. WHO DO YOU THINK IS IN CHARGE OF AN ORGANIZATION AND THE DECISIONS MADE CHAP?!?

If not the front office, who is in charge, Chap? The sales team? Vendor relations?

Find one quote from anyone here absolving Jones of blame. He's definitely a part of this mess! That said, we very obviously have a meddlesome owner, and yes, since Ishbia has been in charge, it's been one terrible decision after the next. Who do you think is signing off on all of these decisions? The guy who scans your tickets?

Durant is obviously a huge part of the reason our return was so weak for him. Refusing to play ball and making it very clear where he wanted to go was a huge impediment.

I don't think any of us here will remember the last 2.5 years with any fondness.

Kellan with some actual analysis. @Chaplin - please read to educate yourself on how the Suns royally screwed this all up nearly every step of the way.

(Can't wait for this to be called whining...we should be more grateful to be the new Bulls/Kings, right?)

YOU AREN'T PAYING ATTENTION. We were prepared to do it. KD told Golden State he didn't want to go there, so Golden State said no, not us. Why is this so difficult to understand?

This last season was one of the worst Suns seasons I can remember because it was devoid of hope.

You're just going to ignore the fact that I literally just posted this:

It is whining, it's what Suns fans do. But don't alter history because of hatred you have for the organization. The Suns have done plenty bad in all this, no need to pile it on with stuff that isn't even true.

Yep, the biggest kick in the nuts was the fact that we all thought KD was going to have us as final contenders for at least 2-3 years. We never even came close.

Yes, so what? You implied that it was the Suns that pulled the deal because Durant said he didn't want to go there, when that wasn't the case.

Lol. Nothing to discuss on the basketball end, just attacking Suns fans for not jumping for joy for getting a turn sandwich.

Can you just focus on discussing the basketball here, or are you just going to be a troll?

I'm late to the conversation, but this is essentially what happened. KD didn't want to be traded mid-season.
