The Suns have announced price increases that average 9.4 percent for season tickets. The new average ticket price will be $54.13, excluding floor seats and loge boxes.
The team will maintain 1,661 upper-level season tickets priced at $10 per game, which constitutes nearly 10 percent of all arena seats. Seats in the upper level will have a top price of $37.50. None of the upper level seats will increase in price by more than $2.50.
The pricing structure also includes a $45 lower bowl ticket, one of the lowest in the league, the Suns said. Also, for the first time, the franchise will offer a 50 percent discount on more than 1,700 seats in the upper level for full season ticket holders.
These tickets will be priced at $32.50, but season-ticket purchasers will be able to acquire them for only $16.25, compared to the $30.00 they paid for the same seat this season.
Suns season ticket holders were mailed their renewal information on Thursday.
The Suns have averaged 17,293 fans per game this season (capacity is 18,422), up nearly 1,000 from the 16,351 per game average last season. The Suns have sold out nine of their past 11 games, with attendance at the other two games over 18,000.
The club has sold out 12 times, most since the 2000-01 season, when the team sold out 10 games. The Suns maintain, however, that they rank only 17th in the league in revenue from ticket sales.
The franchise has also announced that it will add two rows to the Abercrombie and Kent Courtside Club.
These seats will be added at the north and south ends of the floor, as well as two rows next to and behind the team benches and scorer's table area. This will result in a comprehensive reconfiguration of the arena's lower level seating.
As such, every row in the lower level will be moved back two rows, so the former Row 3 will become Row 1.
Club president Rick Welts said the Suns faced an identical situation last year, when they created the courtside seating. The relocation process created a number of complaints.
"Our fans told us they felt there was a more fair and equitable way to handle this situation by simply moving all season ticket holders back two rows," Welts said. "We listened, and that is the plan we have in place for next season."
The Suns also will open a new 10,000-square-foot family entertainment zone on the upper concourse next season. The introduction of this area completes the $70 million arena expansion and renovation, the Suns said.
