Me too, I am surprised we have any. It's not normal for a bottom 2 team in the conference to get national games.

My guess it's a carry-over from years past when the Suns were good and the Devin Booker effect.

Ishbia thought that before. The proof will be in the result.

The recent video interview with Mat Ishbia on PHNX Sports, he suggested the Suns are building the team like they did the Mercury.

This troubled me a bit, because they are worlds apart when it comes to the complexity of building an NBA contender. I'd be more confident in the Suns future if they had hired a proven GM with NBA experience.

The best thing for me, zero expectations for the upcoming season.

My concern for the upcoming season is do the pieces fit. The Suns should be laying the foundation for the future.

It starts with the draft, trades, assistant coaches, head coach, GM and the owner… especially the owner.

Mat Ishbia made it clear he is running the team. It bothers me some that he walks away from the decisions he made when he arrived. Those are on him as well.

It's not like he didn't share in the Suns fall from grace in 2023 either.

The phone call that got released between Rich Paul and Ishbia about Maluach... any other team, that is a call the GM makes.

These other guys are just along for the ride, maybe toss out an idea here and there, tell Ishbia what he wants to hear and occassionally talk about Michigan State.

It's a thought. I haven't come to grips Brian Gregory is the right GM for the Suns.
I gotta say, he hasn't been as bad as I was expecting so far. As long as they don't start paying too much for shiny things again.

Like with James Jones, the tenth pick in the draft may tell the tale for Brian Gregory.

9 national games makes sense. We're a tier above bottom feeders like Washington and New Orleans with 2 or Charlotte and Chicago with 3. There are 9 teams with fewer games. We're just above the dreck though along with Portland, Sacramento, and Indiana having 9.

I seriously doubt Rich Paul was steering Maluach to the Suns at #10.

IMO, it's more like he was falling in the draft.

I think you see your guy dropping and you make the call to a team you know is looking for that position. Probably all agents do this.

PHNX Sports must have a good customer base to afford this kind of office space.

I'm a bit surprised, although they work hard to put out a good product.

I only like two guys on that whole network. I watch way less of their stuff now than when they were first out.
