The UNC baseball program is a model of consistently, showcasing the ability to win in bunches each season despite new-look roster.
2026 continues to prove North Carolina as a collegiate power, despite never previously winning a College World Series.
As a result of their 7-3 win over Pitt on Sunday, the Diamond Heels (40-9-1, 20-7 ACC) reached 40 wins for a third-consecutive season, plus the seventh time in their past nine campaigns.
UNC's 2026 schedule is filled with impressive victories, perhaps none more important than a series win over third-ranked Georgia Tech. North Carolina combines an ace pitcher in Jason DeCaro with a lockdown bullpen, anchored by Walker McDuffie and Caden Glauber, while transfers like Owen Hull (.373 batting average) and Jake Schaffner (.352) are mashing at the plate.
The Diamond Heels played to a 46-15 record in 2025, winning their first game against Texas Tech and their last against Arizona. In 2024, North Carolina enjoyed a 48-16 record, capped by a trip to the College World Series.
2026 UNC arguably looks better than each of its previous two teams, playing a more balanced brand of baseball. The Diamond Heels don't have a superstar like Vance Honeycutt or Jake Knapp on their roster, but they don't need one.
North Carolina has four more regular season matchups, capped by a Tuesday trip to UNC-Wilmington and weekend series at NC State. UNC then travels to Durham for the ACC Tournament, before learning its NCAA Tournament fate later in May.
How many wins will this year's Diamond Heels end with?
