While a holiday week, the seven nominees for Guthrie Athlete of the Week for Dec. 21-27, 2025 delivered some gifts to their teams.
Nominees are from the coverage areas of the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, Elmira Star-Gazette, Ithaca Journal and Corning Leader.
Voting will be open until the noon Thursday, Jan. 1. Voting is online only and emailed submissions will not be considered in vote totals.

To submit a nomination for the week of Dec. 28-Jan. 3, email [email protected] by 6 p.m. Saturday.
The nominees:
Leah Antes, Odessa-Montour girls basketball: She had 35 points and 13 rebounds for the Grizzlies in a loss to Addison.
Makenzie Lombardini, Johnson City girls basketball: She contributed 20 points as Johnson City topped Elmira Notre Dame in a Regional Division 2 semifinal at the Josh Palmer Fund Elmira Holiday Classic.
Gideon Martin, Vestal boys indoor track & field: Martin won the 400-meter dash in 51.71 seconds in the second session of the CNY Holiday Classic in Utica.
Mariah Matias, Elmira girls basketball: Matias had 26 points and 26 rebounds in a win over Rochester Aquinas in the opening round of the National Division of the Josh Palmer Fund Elmira Holiday Classic. She scored five points in overtime of the 59-56 triumph. It was her fifth career 20-20 game, most in program history.
Arlo Peake, Trumansburg boys basketball: Peake scored 32 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field and a 13-for-16 effort at the foul line as the Blue Raiders downed Horseheads in the Josh Palmer Fund Elmira Holiday Classic.
Maddie Ribble, Horseheads girls basketball: She scored 17 points, all through the first three quarters, in a 67-27 victory over Bishop Kearney in a National Division quarterfinal at the Josh Palmer Fund Elmira Holiday Classic.
Charlise Starns, Corning girls basketball: Starns had 27 points and 14 rebounds in the Hawks' loss to Jamestown in a Regional Division 1 semifinal at the Josh Palmer Fund Elmira Holiday Classic.
