Eight athletes are nominees for Athlete of the Week for the period of April 13-19.
Voting will be open until the end of the day Thursday, with nominees from the coverage areas of the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, Elmira Star-Gazette, Ithaca Journal and Corning Leader.
Nominees are compiled primarily through results reported to [email protected] or events covered by the publications. Nominations can also be sent by 6 p.m. Saturday to [email protected].
This week's nominees:
Niko Cheplick, Thomas A. Edison baseball: Cheplick went 4-for-5 with four runs and three RBIs to help the Spartans to a 13-5 victory over Harpursville/Afton.
Mason Holloway, Horseheads baseball: Holloway pitched a perfect game in the Blue Raiders' 9-0 win over Chesterfield (South Carolina) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Holloway struck out 16 of the 21 batters he faced. He extended his unblemished streak to open the season to 12 innings after combining with Brendan Clark on a perfect game against Binghamton.
Addison Makowski, Deposit-Hancock softball: Makowski pitched a five-inning perfect game in a 15-0 win over Walton/Delhi, adding a 2-for-3 day at the plate with two RBIs. In a 16-0 win over Harpursville, Makowski went 2-for-3 with a triple, double, three runs and two RBIs. On Saturday, she pitched a five-inning four-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a 13-0 win over Elmira to go with a home run and two RBIs.
Vinny Mancini, Maine-Endwell boys track & field: Mancini won the 400-meter dash in 50.49 seconds and the 100 dash in 10.99 seconds at the Square Deal Invitational at Johnson City.
Michael Morrissey, Sidney boys track & field: Morrissey swept the discus and shot put at Johnson City's Square Deal Invitational. He won the discus with a throw of 141 feet, 8 inches. His top effort in the shot put was 46 feet, 1 inch.
Aurora Parlo, Thomas A. Edison softball: Parlo went a combined 5-for-7 with two triples, six runs and two RBIs as the Spartans stayed unbeaten with wins of 12-0 over Whitney Point and 16-0 over Lansing. Parlo was 2-for-3 against Whitney Point and 3-for-4 vs. Lansing.
Emelia Smith, Corning softball: Smith went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double, two runs and three RBIs as Corning edged Langley (Virginia), 8-7, at the Grand Strand Classic in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Brogan Sullivan, Horseheads boys lacrosse: Sullivan registered nine goals and six assists to help the Blue Raiders to two wins. He had five goals and two assists in a 12-4 win over Rush-Henrietta, followed by four goals and four assists in a 16-5 triumph against Elmira.

Union-Endicott senior Caleb Clark was voted Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 12.
Clark was part of a combined baseball no-hitter with Chris Zielewicz in a 5-0 victory over Binghamton. Clark struck out 13 and walked one while pitching the first five innings.
Clark received 46.36% of the 32,668 votes submitted. Thomas A. Edison baseball player Andrew Slaven was runner-up with 42.3% of the vote.
