Congratulations to Southwestern's James Oliver for winning player of the week for Week 2. The junior went 6-for-8 (.750) with five RBIs, five runs scored, three doubles and one stolen base. On the mound, Oliver threw a complete game against South Decatur, striking out nine and allowing no earned runs on five hits and two walks. Oliver added three strikeouts over 1⅔ innings against Jac-Cen-Del.
Here are the top performers from the past week.
The Purdue Fort Wayne commit displayed bat-missing stuff for the Cardinals. Across two appearances, Godsey struck out 18 batters in seven innings. The senior struck out seven in a loss to Shelbyville and followed up that performance with 11 strikeouts in a win over Perry Meridian. At the plate, Godsey went 7-for-11 (.636) with three RBIs, five runs, two doubles and two stolen bases.
The junior set a new program record with 17 strikeouts against Crothersville. Jones broke his own record of 12 strikeouts set last week against Columbus Christian. At the plate, Jones went 3-for-8 (.375) with two RBIs, one triple, one double and four runs scored. On the season, Jones has 37 strikeouts over 15 innings.
The left-handed junior threw a no-hitter against Lawrence Central, striking out four and walking one over six innings. At the plate, Nahre added one hit, one RBI and one run scored.
The Evansville commit helped Avon to a big win over Center Grove, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.. The senior added a scoreless inning and one strikeout on the mound. Pennington finished the week going 3-for-7 (.428) with one home run, one triple and three RBIs. On the mound, Pennington threw four scoreless innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out six.
The senior left-hander struck out eight over five scoreless innings against Muncie Burris. Rady allowed two hits and two walks. On the season, Rady is 2-0 with a 0.70 ERA.
The left-handed senior threw a complete-game one-hitter against North Decatur. Wasil struck out 14 and walked four over seven innings. At the plate, Wasil went 6-for-15 (.400) with four RBIs, one double, one triple and four runs scored.
The uncommitted junior threw a complete-game one-hitter against a talented Noblesville squad. Werner allowed one hit, one earned run and three walks, striking out 10 over seven innings. On the season, Werner is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA.
