Strange Goin's On at Flag?

Jim S mentioned during his end of morning phone call that (a) Calvin Page wasn't at practice this morning, (b) Coach Mac seemed annoyed at this, (c) the media room (usually occupied with people at the noon hour) was empty and that (d) something might be breaking and he'd get back to me.

Left me hanging on a thread.

So - I'm leaving you hanging too.

Note - As soon as I hear anything (if there's anything to hear), I'll pass it along.

Thsi is not good at all! Thats another practice missed and sounds like there could be a hang-up with either the contract or the physical IMO????

I wonder if the NFL didnt ok the contract????

Jurecki said his physical was this morning in Phx and he was heading up the mountain for the afternoon practice, 3:45p pacific time.

I hope Jurecki is right!

I wonder why Mac was irritated then??

Why would they drag there feet like that and not just have him in the morning practice? They had all day yesterday to get his physical done?

He is irritated because Pace is not there yet.

No they only had last night, Pace was not in Phx and had to fly in.

Pace arrived in phoenix about 7 last night...he was supposed to have signed his contract and taken a physical and arrive in flagstaff about 11:00...camp finishes up in the morning about 11:00...so he is supposed to be here this afternoon.

No big news from me from camp today...I talked with skorp briefly..hopefully he will have some more info..Talked to a few players after practice:

Kasper, reggie wells, marcel shipp, steve bush...just small talk - nothing exciting..

Mr B. took off about 15 minutes early from practice in his cart...not sure if anything was going on or not...I do not know if he always leaves early or not..Coach mac stayed long after practice signing tons of autographs (we saw him as were driving by on our way out). So...mac did not seem to be in a big rush..

They practiced on the far away fields and I had my son with me...I get decent info when they hold drills on the field closest to the stands..and when my wife has my son (like yesterday morning and sunday)...I talked to skorp and he was in the middle of the action..so I am sure he will post before long..

I have never understood why players sit at home, in another part of the country, while they're on the verge of signing a multi million dollar contract.

What, the hotel won't wait for payment?

If I was about to become a player in the NFL, and my team was about to give me a check for over a million dollars, I'd be in town.

Pace was in Georgia and therefore the Cards did not have all day to get a physical done.

Mac is irritated because he want guys on the field. He said that someone is going to take a job from Duane Starks if he keeps getting injured.

I have a really, really hard time believing this. Isn't Starks the highest-paid player on this team? Isn't he the most experienced and (arguably) best player on the defense? Mac should be more honest, or the "credibility gap" might begin to show again (you know, the "we won't accept turnovers from the quarterback position on this team" one?). If Mac wants to keep his job, he should probably worry more about having Duane Starks on the field from September to late January and less about Starks missing reps in July.
