Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo spoke with reporters after practice recently at Missouri Western State University. He shared his thoughts on defensive lineman Felix Anudike-Uzomah now, compared to where he thought he would be coming into training camp.

"I think (Felix Anudike-Uzomah) he's had a really good camp. And he's fought these injuries in, you guys know, you guys have been here; he's fought these injuries all the way through. Even when he was playing, I think he was hampered by, you have to ask him, but it feels like the healthiest he's been," said Spagnuolo. "He's been in the system now for a fourth year, so he should know it. I think he's had some pretty effective, productive plays. I'm hoping that continues. And listen, Ashton (Gillotte), we need him out there, but the blessing in disguise for Felix is he gets more reps, so hopefully he keeps being positive."

Anudike-Uzomah sustained a significant hamstring injury during the Chiefs' loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the second preseason game. He was placed on injured reserve and was forced to sit out the entire 2025 season, stalling the momentum he built up in his sophomore campaign.

The former Kansas State standout earned more playing time during the 2024 season, contributing more than he did in his rookie year, finishing with 27 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He was viewed as a potential breakout player going into the 2025 season before the injury.
