The Miami Heat’s 2025 playoff run came to a screeching halt with a 4-0 sweep by the Cleveland Cavaliers, capped by a brutal 138-83 Game 4 loss on Monday night at the Kaseya Center.

In the aftermath, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold back on "First Take", delivering a pointed message about Heat president Pat Riley.

“You have to get people to want to come to Miami, and he’s not that guy anymore,” Smith declared, suggesting it’s time for the legendary executive to step aside.

However, the Heat’s recent struggles, including a strained relationship with star Jimmy Butler as noted by fans, have fueled criticism.

Smith’s comments echo a growing sentiment among some Heat supporters, with calls for his retirement trending after the playoff exit.

If that's the case, and Riley still retains his job as president of the Heat, he will have a myriad of crucial decisions to make for the franchise.

But with the Heat now facing an uncertain future, Smith’s critique raises a critical question: can Riley still attract the talent needed to restore the Heat's championship pedigree?
