The Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors are in some serious trouble in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, as both teams are missing their respective superstars, Jayson Tatum and Steph Curry.
Curry suffered a hamstring injury in the Warriors' Game 1 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, unable to play in the next three games and will remain out for Wednesday's Game 5.
On the other hand, in Boston's 121-113 Game 4 loss to the New York Knicks on Monday, Tatum went down in some serious pain with just a few minutes left in the game, grabbing at his ankle.
Turns out, Tatum suffered an Achilles tear, one of the more serious injuries in sports. Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the former Duke star underwent surgery less than 24 hours after his injury.
"BREAKING: Boston Celtics All-NBA star Jayson Tatum underwent surgery to repair a torn right Achilles tendon. Catastrophic season-ending injury for one of the NBA's young faces and the Celtics, with a long rehab awaiting," Charania wrote on X.

On Wednesday, just hours before the Celtics battled the Knicks in Game 5 at TD Garden, Tatum addressed his Achilles tear for the first time, taking to Instagram to thank everyone for their support.
"Thankful for all the love and support ," Tatum captioned his post with a photo of himself in the hospital post-surgery.
Sure enough, immediately after Tatum's post was published, Curry, who won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics alongside the Celtics star, shared his quick response in the comments.
"Get right big fella! ," Curry responded.
Tatum and Curry have had their fair share of battles over the years. The two even met in the 2022 NBA Finals, when the Warriors defeated the Celtics 4-2.
While Curry has never suffered a torn Achilles himself, the ex-Davidson guard may know a thing or two about what Tatum is about to go through. In the 2019 NBA Finals, Kevin Durant sustained the same injury, forcing him to miss all of the next season.
Similarly, Klay Thompson tore his Achilles in November 2020 during a pickup game, leaving him out for a second-straight year.
