LeBron James was one of the first NBA superstars to reach out with prayers for Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum after his devastating injury on Monday.
Tatum went down late in the fourth quarter against the New York Knicks, grabbing at his right ankle and being attended to by trainers on the court for an extended period of time.
"Jayson Tatum is spinning on the floor in pain, holding his right ankle. Seemed like he twisted it on that (Anunoby) steal and he is writhing in serious pain right now," Jared Weiss of The Athletic wrote on X. "Trainers have just carried him back to the locker room with his ankle completely immobilized."
ESPN cameras captured Tatum being taken to the locker room in a wheelchair shortly after exiting the game, signaling a potentially serious injury for the Celtics star. An official diagnosis had not yet been released.

James shared his support on social media, posting four praying hands emojis alongside a two-word message: “Big Deuce” — a nod to Tatum’s nickname, which references his son, Deuce.
While James and Tatum have been longtime NBA rivals, the two were teammates recently as members of Team USA during the Olympics.
Prior to the injury, Tatum was in the midst of his best performance this postseason. He logged 42 points on 16-of-28 shooting with eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and four steals.
The Celtics lost the game 121-113, falling behind 3-1 in the series to the New York Knicks. Boston will try to stay alive in Game 5, which is scheduled for Wednesday in Boston.
