Stefon Diggs is on the move.
The wide receiver, whose short tenure with the New England Patriots was marked by drama off the field, is set to sign a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders, according to multiple reports.
The Gaithersburg, Md. native, 32, will head home in a deal worth up to $12 million, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
In Diggs’ 11th season in the NFL and only season with the Patriots, he caught 85 passes for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, according to league stats.
Diggs played for the Houston Texans in 2024 after four seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He began his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings in 2015.
The athlete’s time in Foxborough coincided with off-the-field issues, including an arrest for assault. Diggs was found not guilty in May of assaulting and strangling former employee Mila Adams.

The wide receiver also made headlines for his romance with Cardi B, with whom he welcomed a son in November 2025, and appears to have had an on-and-off relationship in recent months.
In June, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel seemingly didn’t shut the door on re-signing the veteran.
“I wouldn’t say anything is off the table,” Vrabel, 50, said at the time. “We would want to add anybody that could help us. I’m not gonna give a percentage on it, but I think we’re happy with where we’re at right now with the numbers and the people in the receiver room.”
In the offseason, the reigning AFC champs signed former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs in free agency. The Patriots also acquired A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles in June.
