The Pittsburgh Steelers are entering the Mike McCarthy era, and the veteran NFL coach and former Super Bowl Champion is bringing some old friends along for the ride. One of those will now be the franchise's new offensive coordinator.

The Steelers are hiring Vikings passing game coordinator and tight ends coach Brian Angelichio as their new offensive coordinator. Angelichio has 14 years of NFL coaching experience, all as a tight ends coach, before adopting pass game responsibilities with the Vikings. He will be reuniting with McCarthy, as he spent three seasons from 2016-2018 as the tight ends coach in Green Bay.

The Steelers are finalizing a deal with Brian Angelichio to become their offensive coordinator, per @TomPelissero and @RapSheet.

Brian Angelichio returns to Steel City after helping build explosive Vikings offense

Angelichio's passing offense in Minnesota was ranked in the Top 10 in the NFL in passing yards during his first three seasons with the program, and he oversaw the rebirth of Sam Darnold during the 2024 season. This past season, despite injury struggles for starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy, the offense still managed to have a 1,000-yard receiver in Justin Jefferson.

While this will be Angelichio's first stint with the Steelers, it is not his first time in Pittsburgh. He previously served as the tight ends coach with the Pitt Panthers at the NCAA Division 1 level from 2006-2010 under then-head coach Dave Wannstedt.
