On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers wasted no time in upgrading their passing offense. The team quickly worked a trade for Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and now it is being reported that the team is giving Pittman Jr. a contract extension as well.

The Steelers are giving Pittman Jr. a new three-year contract worth $59 million that will actually lower his 2026 cap hit. Pittman Jr. was headed into the final year of his deal and with the Colts giving Alec Pierce a huge new contract, Pittman was set to be the odd man out. Pittman Jr. is 28 years old.

Pittman Jr. is headed into his seventh NFL season after being a second-round pick out of USC. Much like last offseason, the Steelers chose to work a trade for a proven receiver rather than dive into free agency or utilize the NFL draft. Pittman Jr. will now pair up with DK Metcalf to be one of the better tandems in the AFC although we still have no idea who will be throwing them the football.
