With the 123rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Jack Sawyer, an edge rusher out of Ohio State.
After spending all four seasons with the Buckeyes, Sawyer turned in a productive collegiate career, finishing with 113 total tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 23.0 sacks, and six forced fumbles. His best season came in 2024 where he accumulated nine sacks, three forced fumbles, and 38 QB hurries.
Sawyer joins an outside linebacker room already featuring T.J. Watt, Alex Highsmith, and Nick Herbig, giving the Steelers yet another pass-rushing weapon and potential direction for the future of the unit.
His selection also serves as a clear signal that the Steelers were never seriously considering drafting quarterback Shedeur Sanders — who has slid far down from his original draft projection in the first round.
