The Pittsburgh Steelers have been closely linked to wide receiver Romeo Doubs ahead of free agency, but one key detail from a new report doesn't exactly bode well for the Steel City brand of football.
On Sunday morning, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that talks between the Packers and Doubs did not result in a new deal and he plans to hit the market. It seemed like great news for Pittsburgh until Fowler went on to list the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and Washington Commanders as suitors. But the Steelers were surprisingly omitted.
Last season, Packers insider Bill Huber reported that Aaron Rodgers called to inquire about Doubs' trade availability, but nothing ever came to fruition, as many fans know.
Hopefully, the Steelers are flying under-the-radar as a potential landing spot for Doubs, and by this time next week, fans will be speculating as to which jersey number he'll wear in Pittsburgh. But if he chooses to sign elsewhere, there are still plenty of other receiver options in free agency.
