A top-five quarterback prospect from the 2026 NFL Draft has apparently caught the eye of the Pittsburgh Steelers for one key reason.

According to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Gerry Dulac, the Steelers are interested in Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck due to his experience as a starting quarterback.

"The Steelers have little intention of taking a quarterback with their No. 1 pick because they don’t believe there is another first-round quarterback after Mendoza," Dulac wrote. "But one of the reasons they like Miami’s Carson Beck is he has started 43 games, counting his time when he won a national title at Georgia."

Beck, a projected third- to fourth-rounder, threw for 11,725 yards and 88 touchdowns during his collegiate career with the University of Georgia (2020-2024) and the University of Miami, Florida (2025).

The Steelers haven't been shy about their interest in Beck, bringing in the standout college quarterback for a pre-draft visit a few weeks ago.

With 11 picks between Day 2 and Day 3, the Steelers could decide to bring in Beck to compete with Will Howard for a potential starting quarterback role down the line, but doing so would leave Mason Rudolph as the odd man out.
