Training camp hasn't stopped the Pittsburgh Steelers from continuing to do their due diligence on NFL free agents, as the team brought in a pair of defenders on Thursday.
Following the second day of practice at training camp, the Steelers hosted two veteran free agents for visits: one-time Super Bowl champion safety Jordan Whitehead and cornerback Eric Scott.
Whitehead, who played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for five years (2018-2021, 2024) and the New York Jets for two years (2022-2023), was previously linked to the Steelers heading into Day 2 of training camp. There was reportedly "mutual interest" between Whitehead and the Steelers to strike a deal, which makes his visit even more exciting.
Scott, who was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, was ultimately released as part of final roster cuts in 2024. He was picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs and was on and off the team's practice squad until he was waived with an injury designation in August 2025.
