Steelers cornerbacks disrespected on ESPN rankings

The Pittsburgh Steelers have what might be the best cornerback tandem in the AFC with Joey Porter Jr. and Jamel Dean. The Steelers added Dean as a free agent this offseason to finalize the duo of lockdown corners. But it seems the rest of the NFL don't see it quite that way.

ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler has once again polled NFL coaches and executives to get their Top 10 cornerbacks in the NFL and neither Porter Jr. nor Dean made the cut. Here's how the Top 10 played out.

• 2. Texans: Derek Stingley
• 3. Patriots: Christian Gonzalez
• 4. Seahawks: Devon Witherspoon
• 5. Rams: Trent McDuffie
• 6. Eagles: Quinyon Mitchell
• 7. Browns: Denzel Ward
• 8. Panthers: Jaycee Horn
• 9. Colts: Sauce Gardner
• 10. Eagles: Cooper DeJean

With all due respect to the names on his list, the fact that Porter Jr. only got an honorable mention and Dean didn't even get one is a travesty. Dean graded at the No. 3 overall cornerback in the NFL last season according to Pro Football Focus, and Porter Jr. allowed only a 56.2 quarterback rating when being targeted in coverage. Porter also allowed 0 touchdown catches in 2025.
