The Steelers' 2025 schedule release isn’t the only big news from Wednesday — as team president Art Rooney II shared a major update regarding Pittsburgh’s attire this season: the team will unveil new throwback uniforms in July.
Pittsburgh has had a wide assortment of throwback jerseys — some polarizing, like the “Bumblebee” uniforms, and others as beloved as the ’70s-style block number design. Via the Steelers official YouTube channel, here is what Rooney had to say on the new attire:
"We're going to have a new throwback uniform this year — which we are going to wear for the Packers game," Rooney stated. "We're going to unveil that uniform sometime in July. And so that'll be new and different."
Rooney’s July timeframe aligns with a report from Andrew Lind of SportsLogo.net, which stated that the Steelers would receive new helmets that same month.
It had been speculated that the all-gold helmets could return to pair with the Steelers’ color rush jerseys, but Rooney’s comments on new throwback uniforms suggest a different helmet design may be in store.
