The Pittsburgh Steelers have put in some serious work this offseason under General Manger Omar Khan and new head coach Mike McCarthy. The team has wasted not time in solidifying multiple depth charts via trade and free agency but this doesn't mean the roster is complete. Quite the contrary. The Steelers still have work to do and there is still another wave of free agency and the 2026 NFL draft to fill these final four roster needs.

Starting quarterback

With the Steelers so quiet on the free-agency front at quarterback, we assume there's been communication and an agreement behind the scenes between Pittsburgh and Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers is going to come back for one more season, the coaching staff will take a long look at Will Howard and plan accordingly for 2027.

No. 3 wide receiver

The Steelers traded for Michael Pittman, giving the Steelers an excellent tandem along with DK Metcalf. However, Pittsburgh doesn't have a No. 3 receiver on the roster and with two very expensive veterans already on the roster, we expect this spot to be filled via rookie or post-draft veteran who can be had for a minimal contract.

Starting left guard

Pittsburgh lost Isaac Seumalo to free agency but it never felt like the Steelers had much interest in keeping him around. This one is something of a mystery. The team could bring in a veteran to add some age and wisdom to a very good young group. The front office might go with a rookie here thanks to just how good center Zach Frazier and guard Mason McCormick have become so quickly.

No. 3 tight end

We have no issue with Jonnu Smith and Connor Heyward being gone. Heyward is a good guy, a good special teams player, but he offered little on offense, and Smith was a complete failure with Pittsburgh. We don't know exactly what kind of offense new head coach Mike McCarthy is going to run, but we are willing to bet that if a tight end is sitting there on day two of the 2026 NFL draft who can be a dual threat, the Steelers won't hesitate to pick them.
