With the Red Sox only arriving in New York a few hours before the start of their series with the Mets, first pitch between the two sides has been delayed to 7:50 p.m., Major League Baseball announced.

The two teams were originally slated to begin their series at 7:15 p.m. (streaming on Apple TV), but the Red Sox encountered issues departing from Chicago, where they had spent a three-game series with the White Sox, which concluded on Thursday.

According to a report by MLB.com's Ian Browne, the Red Sox landed at LaGuardia Airport a little more than two hours before they were scheduled to face the Mets.

The Red Sox enter the three-game series - the final set before the All-Star break - on a six-game winning streak, while the Mets have won four out of their last five games, wrapping up a series win over the Royals on Thursday.

The Mets' Nolan McLean (6-5, 3.73 ERA) is slated to take on the Red Sox's Sonny Gray (10-1, 2.61) in a high-profile pitching matchup.
