Expensive for PIT.

My 17 year old son is crushed. He has been a Pirates fan since about 7 years old and Marte was his favorite. He wore the same uniform number while playing ball.

Now he gets to see him more than once a year

So are you ready to buy spring training tickets yet?
I already had mine for the next to the last Training game (at Chase Field) the evening of Monday March 23rd.

As I previously posted, the final game in that series on Tuesday afternoon will be televised.

And, hey, now Ketel can be returned to 2B (and hopefully left there). 2B won't be covered
by 128 different sub-par players. :)

My take on the Marte acquisition: it's good and cost a pretty penny, but feels fair. The D-backs will need to be willing push in further over the course of the season, but are better positioned today than they were yesterday in terms of pushing for October baseball.

The addition of Starling Marte should put the Diamondbacks at around $120 million in payroll, when accounting for the Pirates picking up $1.5 million of his 2020 salary.

Crazy thing is that they could spin Ray for a couple of prospects at the deadline and not really hurt the team at all.

All we need are some trash cans and buzzers and we’re World Series bound

Two years, 24 Million left on contract (and team option for next year). Really not that expensive. Hopefully our CF prospects will be up and ready by then.

Hearing the Club Option kicks in next year (2021), which would mean he's only got this year at $11.5 Million (of which Pitt is paying $1.5 Million), no?

Yes - 11.5 this year, 12.5 (Club Option) in 2021

Hazen continues to wow me.

On paper we have a solid and deep pitching staff, a really nice offense, loaded with good defenders.

Only the bullpen remains a question, but... it seems like pens very wildly from year to year, the hardest thing in baseball to judge.
